The inaugural Lloyd’s List Italian Shipping Awards was held in Naples in October 2008 with the success of the event ensuring that the awards will become a premier event in Italy’s shipping calendar.

Lloyd’s List, the world’s first and foremost global daily maritime newspaper, conducts a series of national shipping awards around the world with Italy being the latest addition in recognition of its importance as a national industry.

The purpose of the awards is to recognize standards of excellence and achievement in the Italian maritime industry.

The Italian Shipping Awards were extensively publicized in Lloyd’s List, sister publications and the Italian media, helping to internationally promote the Italian shipping industry as well as highlighting the important role it plays in the economy of Italy.

Hundreds of guests attended the inaugural event to celebrate the 2008 winners: Romeo Group, d’Amico Navigazione, Costa Crociere, CRN Gruppo Ferretti, Unitramp, Medmar, Monte dei Pachi di Siena, Autorita Portuale Savona, Guardia Costiera, Provincia di Genoa, Mariella Bottiglieri, Emanuele Grimaldi, Michele d’Amato and Guido Grimaldi.

The Lloyd’s List Italian Shipping Awards 2010 will again focus the international spotlight on Italian Shipping – this year in the maritime centre of Genoa.

The Lloyd’s List 2010 Italian Shipping Awards is again endorsed by Confitarma and many other Italian maritime associations and we are most grateful for that support.
